Flyers' Noah Cates: Earns four-year deal with Philly

Cates signed a four-year, $16 million contract extension with the Flyers on Tuesday.
Over 235 regular-season appearances with the Flyers during his four-year career, Cates has accumulated 40 goals and 102 points. The Minnesota native's new contract runs through the 2028-29 season, though he did not receive any no-trade protection, per Kevin Kurz of The Athletic. The 26-year-old Cates will likely see top-six minutes while skating with one of the power-play units in 2025-26.
Grans signed a two-year, $1.575 million contract with the Flyers on Friday.
Grans had eight goals, 23 points and 42 PIM in 68 regular-season outings with AHL Lehigh Valley in 2024-25. He also registered an assist across six appearances with the Flyers. The 23-year-old will fight for an NHL roster spot out of training camp, but he might begin the 2025-26 campaign in the minors. That said, his new contract begins as a two-way deal but becomes a one-way contract for 2026-27, which speaks to the Flyers' outlook for the blueliner.
Foerster signed a two-year, $7.5 million contract with the Flyers on Thursday, Russell Morgan of Hockey Royalty reports.
Foerster tallied 25 goals in 81 regular-season games this season. The 23-year-old chipped in with 18 assists, 75 hits, 54 blocked shots and 49 PIM. He was on fire at the end of the season, scoring nine times while adding a pair of assists in his last nine contests.
Eklind signed a one-year contract extension with the Flyers on Thursday.
Eklind spent the 2024-25 season with AHL Lehigh Valley and logged five goals and 17 assists over 64 regular-season appearances. He has some experience overseas, but it seems likely that he'll spend most of the 2025-26 campaign in the minors.

Flyers' Rodrigo Abols: Inks one-year extension

Abols signed a one-year, $800,000 contract extension with the Flyers on Tuesday, per PuckPedia.
Abols had 29 points in 46 AHL games with Lehigh Valley, as well as five points in 22 NHL contests. The 29-year-old is a bit of a late bloomer, as he got his first look in the NHL in 2024-25, but he did enough to impress the team. Abols' deal is a one-way contract, and while that's not a guarantee he'll be an NHL regular, it sets him up well to be a bottom-six option in 2025-26.
Flyers' Rasmus Ristolainen: Out at least six months

The Flyers stated Thursday that Ristolainen is slated to miss training camp, but he is expected to make a full recovery. The defenseman missed the final 16 games of the regular season, finishing with four goals, 15 assists, 97 hits and 94 blocked shots across 63 regular-season appearances.

Ristolainen could miss the beginning of the 2025-26 season after undergoing surgery on his triceps, according to Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia on Saturday.
Ristolainen missed the final 16 games of the 2024-25 regular season. He also dealt with the same injury in 2023-24 while making only 31 appearances. Ristolainen had four goals, 19 points, 100 shots on net, 94 blocked shots and 97 hits in 63 outings during the 2024-25 campaign.
Andrae made a career-high 42 appearances for the Flyers this year, totaling a goal, six assists, 50 blocked shots and 46 hits while averaging 17:21 of ice time. Now that the Flyers have concluded their season, Andrae should provide assistance for the Phantoms during the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Poehling's last month-plus of the campaign was the best he's ever played at the NHL level. He had eight goals, eight assists and 24 shots over the last 16 contests in 2024-25, giving him a total of 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) in 68 appearances for the season. He added 71 shots on net, 26 hits, 79 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating. Poehling is primarily a bottom-six center who fills a defensive role, so fantasy managers shouldn't be banking on him carrying this success over into 2025-26, though that will be a contract year for him.

The 26-year-old forward played at center much of the year and typically saw top-six minutes. His offense doesn't reflect that -- he ends the season with 16 goals, 21 assists, 110 shots on net, 87 hits, 54 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 78 appearances. Still, Cates took strides defensively and could be a reliable two-way forward for the Flyers in the years to come. He'll be a restricted free agent this summer.

He'll likely stay there for a while longer, but if the Flyers upgrade their center depth, Couturier could eventually shuffle down to the third line in a shutdown role.
