Blue Jays' Jonatan Clase: Out of Sunday's lineup
Clase is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at Minnesota.
Clase started the previous four games but will hit the bench Sunday after going 0-for-14 with a walk and five strikeouts. Alan Roden will receive a start in the outfield and bat eighth in the series finale.

Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Not starting Sunday
Gimenez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.
Gimenez has gone 4-for-13 with two walks, a double and two runs in four games since coming back from a quadriceps strain, and he'll take a seat for Sunday's series finale in Minnesota. Alan Roden will receive a start in the outfield, pushing Addison Barger to the hot corner and Ernie Clement to second base.

Blue Jays' George Springer: Goes yard again Saturday
Springer went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Twins.
The 35-year-old played hero by taking Griffin Jax deep in the eighth inning to put the Blue Jays in front 4-3, before the teams traded runs in the ninth. Springer is up to 10 homers on the season, with half of them coming in the last nine games -- a stretch in which he's batting .281 (9-for-32) with nine RBI and 10 runs scored.

Blue Jays' Jeff Hoffman: Secures 15th save
Hoffman struck out one and gave up a solo home run in the ninth inning Saturday to record his 15th save of the season in a 5-4 win over the Twins.
Kody Clemens made things interesting by turning on a 96.6 mph fastball, but Hoffman otherwise had little trouble handling the bottom of the Minnesota order. The right-hander has converted five straight save chances, but keeping the ball in the yard remains an issue -- Hoffman's served up seven homers in 28.2 innings, saddling him with a 5.65 ERA despite a 1.12 WHIP and 42:8 K:BB.

Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Delivers quality start Saturday
Gausman came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Twins, giving up three runs on four hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out five.
The veteran righty's control and command deserted him in the fourth inning, as Gausman put five straight batters aboard on two singles, two walks and a hit by pitch -- the first time he'd issued multiple free passes in an outing since April 27 -- but he was otherwise effective en route to his seventh quality start of the season. He'll take a 3.87 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 73:17 K:BB through 76.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Philadelphia.

Blue Jays' Ali Sanchez: Inks minor-league deal with Toronto
The Blue Jays signed Sanchez to a minor-league contract Friday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
It was initially reported Thursday that Sanchez -- who the Blue Jays designated for assignment Tuesday -- was outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo after clearing waivers, per Bannon. However, the 28-year-old catcher declined his assignment and elected free agency. Nonetheless, Sanchez has opted to stick around with the Blue Jays organization and will report back to Triple-A. Sanchez is slashing .242/.311/.421 with five home runs and 15 RBI in 106 plate appearances for Buffalo this season.

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Claims minor-league strikeout lead
Yesavage struck out nine while giving up up one run on two hits and a walk over five innings Friday for High-A Vancouver.
The 21-year-old right-hander has remained dominant following a promotion from Single-A Dunedin, and over four starts and 17.1 innings for Vancouver, Yesavage has delivered a 1.56 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 33:11 K:BB. His 88 strikeouts combined between the two affiliates leads the entire minor leagues, and the first-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft may not be long for the Northwest League if he continues to overmatch hitters with his mid-90s fastball, splitter and slider.

Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Not in Saturday's lineup
Kirk is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Twins on Saturday.
Kirk will get a breather while Tyler Heineman starts behind home plate and bats ninth. Kirk has been hot at the plate and has gone 16-for-40 (.400) with eight RBI over his last 13 games.

Blue Jays' Brendon Little: Racks up 11th hold
Little gave up a run on two hits and a walk in the eighth inning Friday to record his 11th hold of the season in a win over the Twins. He struck out one.
The 28-year-old left-hander entered the game to protect a 6-3 lead, and after he put the first two runners aboard, a Royce Lewis single brought home the first earned run off Little since April 25. Little sported a 1.00 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB in 16 innings over that stretch with a 0.00 ERA, and as the top southpaw in the Toronto bullpen, he's become one of the key setup men in front of closer Jeff Hoffman.

Blue Jays' Mason Fluharty: Picks up fourth hold
Fluharty struck out two in 1.1 perfect innings of relief Friday to record his fourth hold of the season in a win over the Twins.
Entering the game with one out in the fifth inning and the Blue Jays ahead 4-3, the rookie southpaw closed out the frame before fanning Matt Wallner and Brooks Lee to begin the sixth. Fluharty isn't seeing consistent high-leverage work as the second lefty in the bullpen behind Brendon Little, but he's pitched well enough to get a more prominent spot in the pecking order. Through 26.2 innings this season, he's delivered a 3.04 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB.

Blue Jays' George Springer: Socks ninth homer
Springer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Twins.
The veteran outfielder took Bailey Ober deep in the sixth inning, a no-doubter to left-center field that traveled 435 feet. Springer has started four straight games since Andres Gimenez returned from the IL, three at DH and one in right field, but his playing time figures to take a slight hit at some point as manager John Schneider also tries to find room for the red-hot Addison Barger and Ernie Clement in a suddenly crowded Blue Jays lineup. Springer's recent power binge should help keep him in the lineup -- over his last eight games, he's batting .276 (8-for-29) with four of his nine homers on the season.

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Extends hit streak to 10 games
Bichette went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in Friday's 6-4 win over the Twins.
Bichette struck out in his first two plate appearances, but he got the better of Bailey Ober in the fifth, when his single to center field brought Ernie Clement and Andres Gimenez home. That single extended Bichette's hitting streak to 10 games, and over that span he has gone 13-for-40 (.325) with four home runs and 12 RBI.

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Blasts two-run homer
Barger went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-4 win over Minnesota.
Barger flirted with a home run after flying out to center field in the first inning, but he was able to leave yard in the fourth on a two-run shot off Bailey Ober. Barger is up to seven home runs on the season, five of which have come over his last seven games, and during that span he has a 1.263 OPS with seven runs scored and 10 RBI.

Blue Jays' Eric Lauer: Collects second win of 2025
Lauer (2-1) earned the win in Friday's 6-4 victory over the Twins, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out two across 2.1 scoreless innings.
Lauer entered at the beginning of the bottom of the third inning after opener Paxton Schultz gave up three runs through the first two frames. The veteran southpaw was able to keep the Twins off the board during his extended relief appearance, and he got enough run support from the Toronto batters to come away with a win. The 30-year-old has a 2.08 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB across 26 innings this season. He's tentatively slated to make his next start or bulk-relief appearance against the Cardinals on the road next week.

Blue Jays' Paxton Schultz: Yields three runs as opener
Schultz gave up three runs on four hits while striking out one across two innings in Friday's 6-4 win over Minnesota. He did not issue a walk.
Schultz was named the opener for Friday's contest despite working on just two days of rest. That may have factored into his shaky performance, as he yielded at least one run in both of his frames, including a Trevor Larnach solo homer in the first. Schultz tossed 40 pitches (24 strikes) and generated five whiffs before handing the ball off to Eric Lauer for the third inning. Schultz has a 3.24 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 21:4 K:BB across 16.2 innings this season.

Blue Jays' Jeff Hoffman: Strikes out three for 14th save
Hoffman came away with the save in Friday's 6-4 win over the Twins after striking out three batters and walking one in a scoreless ninth inning.
Hoffman was brought in for the ninth to protect the Blue Jays' two-run lead. He walked Byron Buxton after striking out the first two batters, but Hoffman closed the door for Toronto by punching out Trevor Larnach. It marked the sixth time this season that Hoffman has recorded at least three strikeouts. The 32-year-old right-hander is 14-for-17 in save opportunities this season with a 5.53 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 41:8 K:BB across 27.2 innings.
