Twins' Zebby Matthews: Out with shoulder strain
The Twins placed Matthews on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right shoulder strain.
Though he pitched effectively this past Wednesday against the Athletics en route to claiming his first win in four starts with the Twins, Matthews apparently came out of that outing with the shoulder injury, which will now keep him out for at least the next two weeks. The loss of Matthews is the second big blow to the Minnesota rotation in less than a week, after Pablo Lopez was shelved Thursday due to a right teres major muscle strain that will likely keep him out for 2-to-3 months. The Twins haven't named a replacement in the rotation for Matthews, but Simeon Woods Richardson could be summoned from Triple-A St. Paul to fill the void.

Twins' Danny Coulombe: Returns from IL
The Twins reinstated Coulombe (forearm) from the 15-day injured list Sunday.
Minnesota cleared a spot for Coulombe on the 26-man active roster by moving right-hander Zebby Matthews (shoulder) to the injured list. Though Jhoan Duran maintains a firm grip on the Twins' closing gig, Coulombe had proven to be a sneaky source of fantasy value in his setup role prior to landing on the shelf May 18 due to an extensor strain in his left forearm. In addition to scooping up two saves, two holds and one win over his 19 relief appearances, Coulombe had yet to allow a run and struck out 19 batters over 16.2 innings.

Twins' Michael Tonkin: Begins rehab assisgnment
Tonkin (shoulder/biceps) threw a scoreless inning Saturday with a walk and strikeout in a rehab outing for Triple-A St. Paul.
Tonkin started the season on the 15-day injured list due to a right shoulder strain. He was cleared for a rehab assignment in mid-April and made six appearances in the minors, but his throwing program was paused due to right biceps tendinitis. He's started up another rehab assignment and could be activated from the injured list later this month.

Twins' Chris Paddack: Turns in quality start Saturday
Paddack came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Blue Jays, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out two.
The right-hander needed 86 pitches (55 strikes) to deliver his fourth quality start in his last six trips to the mound, a stretch in which he's posted a 1.85 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB over 39 innings. Paddack has stayed healthy in 2025, and the 29-year-old has emerged as an incredibly consistent option for Minnesota, pitching five innings or more and giving up three earned runs or fewer in 12 straight trips to the mound. Paddack will look to keep rolling in his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend in Houston.

Twins' Danny Coulombe: Could rejoin Minnesota
Coulombe (forearm) tossed one scoreless inning in his first rehab outing with Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.
Coulombe landed on the 15-day injured list May 18 due to an extensor strain in his left forearm. He was cleared to embark on a rehab assignment Friday, but the veteran southpaw may not need more work in Triple-A and could rejoin the Twins' bullpen in the coming days, per Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic. Coulombe hasn't given up a run across 16.2 major-league innings this season while posting a 0.60 WHIP, two saves and a 19:2 K:BB.

Twins' Byron Buxton: Absent from lineup
Buxton is not in the Twins' starting lineup against the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Buxton will take a seat after going 0-for-9 with three walks and two strikeouts over his last three games. Willi Castro, Harrison Bader and Trevor Larnach will man the outfield for Minnesota.

Twins' Carlos Correa: Returning to lineup
Correa (back) is starting at shortstop and batting third against the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Correa will return to Minnesota's lineup following a three-game absence due to back tightness. The 31-year-old shortstop has slashed .275/.318/.463 with four home runs and 11 RBI in 85 plate appearances since the beginning of May.

Twins' Royce Lewis: Perfect at plate
Lewis went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI single in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Blue Jays.
Lewis reached base safely in all four plate appearances, the last of which resulted in an RBI single in the eighth to cut the deficit to two runs. Lewis' struggles at the plate this season include an 0-for-32 slump, and he has a .509 OPS across 91 plate appearances this season.

Twins' Bailey Ober: Yields two homers in loss
Ober (4-2) took the loss against Toronto on Friday, allowing five runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four across seven innings.
Ober looked to be in control after breezing through the first three frames. However, he gave up two runs in both of the next two frames -- including a two-run home run to Addison Barger in the third -- before serving up a solo shot to George Springer in the sixth. Ober was efficient with his 87 pitches (64 strikes) and generated 13 whiffs and 23 first-pitch strikes, but he wasn't able to get enough run support to avoid the loss. Ober has a 3.78 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 54:15 K:BB across 69 innings this season, and he is slated to start against the Rangers at home next week.

Twins' Willi Castro: Resting Friday
Castro isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Toronto.
Castro will get a chance to rest Friday after going 5-for-15 with two homers during the Twins' previous series against the Athletics. Kody Clemens will start at second base in his absence, and Harrison Bader, Byron Buxton and Matt Wallner will patrol the outfield.

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Idle Friday
Jeffers is not in the Twins' starting lineup against the Blue Jays on Friday.
Jeffers will be in the dugout for Friday's weekend opener while Christian Vazquez serves behind home plate and bats ninth. Jeffers has gone 6-for-23 with four runs, one home run and two RBI over his last six games.

Twins' Carlos Correa: Still out of lineup
Correa (back) is not in the Twins' starting lineup against the Blue Jays on Friday.
Correa will miss a third consecutive game due to back tightness, but he could be available as a pinch hitter in Friday's series opener. Brooks Lee will start at shortstop and bat fifth.

Twins' Kody Funderburk: Sent to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Funderburk to Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.
Funderburk made seven appearances during his latest big-league stint but posted a poor 9.00 ERA and a 4:4 K:BB over eight innings. His spot on the 26-man roster will go to Travis Adams, who can provide the Twins' pitching staff with more length.

Twins' Travis Adams: Officially brought up
The Twins recalled Adams from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.
Adams has tallied a 3.43 ERA and a 37:10 K:BB over 42 innings mainly as a bulk reliever with St. Paul, and he'll join the big-league club Friday. With Pablo Lopez (shoulder) on the IL and David Festa having a bumpy return to the majors Thursday, there's a path for Adams to make some starts for the Twins, though he'll initially pitch out of the bullpen. Kody Funderburk was optioned to St. Paul in a corresponding move.

Twins' Travis Adams: Headed for promotion
The Twins intend to promote Adams to the majors Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
The Twins' pitching staff is shorthanded in the absence of Pablo Lopez (shoulder), and David Festa was crushed filling in for a start Thursday. Meanwhile, Adams is another of the team's top pitching prospects and has turned in a 37:10 K:BB across 42 innings with Triple-A St. Paul this season while working in a bulk-relief role. That usage suggests Adams will begin his big-league career in the bullpen, but it wouldn't take him long to stretch back out to pitch as a traditional starter.
