Blue Jays' Alan Roden: Back in big leagues
The Blue Jays recalled Roden from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.
The 25-year-old will return to Toronto as Anthony Santander (shoulder) heads to the 10-day injured list. Roden struggled in his first taste of the majors earlier this season with a .178/.262/.260 slash line in 28 games, but he's been crushing for Triple-A Buffalo with three homers, three steals and a 1.029 OPS in 83 plate appearances.

Blue Jays' Alan Roden: Raking at Buffalo
Roden has a .375/.467/.625 slash line with three homers, three steals, 11 RBI and 14 runs in 16 games since being optioned to Triple-A Buffalo.
The 25-year-old struggled in his first exposure to MLB pitching this season, managing a .522 OPS in his first 84 big-league plate appearances, but since returning to Triple-A, Roden has been locked in. He will likely be the first player called back up if the Blue Jays have a vacancy in their outfield.

Blue Jays' Alan Roden: Optioned to Triple-A
The Blue Jays optioned Roden to Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.
Roden was named to the Blue Jays' Opening Day roster, but he has gone 0-for-26 with a 32.3 percent strikeout rate over his last 11 games. He will head back to Triple-A to clean up his performance at the plate, and the move opens a spot on the Blue Jays' 26-man roster for Jonatan Clase, who was recalled from Buffalo in a corresponding move.

Blue Jays' Alan Roden: Not starting Saturday
Roden isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Guardians.
In an effort to get more production out of their left fielder, the Blue Jays will start Nathan Lukes on Saturday over Roden, who has gone 0-for-25 with nine strikeouts across his last 10 games.

Blue Jays' Alan Roden: Sitting again Wednesday
Roden is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Red Sox on Wednesday.
Roden sat against left-handers in the Blue Jays' last two games, but he's been omitted from Wednesday's lineup despite the Red Sox sending right-hander Lucas Giolito to the mound. With Daulton Varsho back from his shoulder injury and George Springer manning right field, Roden is now competing with Nathan Lukes, Myles Straw and Addison Barger for Toronto's last outfield spot. Roden has failed to record a hit in each of his last eight games, going 0-for-22 with eight strikeouts over that span.

It's the second straight game on the bench for Roden, who has gone hitless with seven strikeouts in his past 17 at-bats. Jonatan Clase, who was called up as the 27th man for the doubleheader, is starting in left field for the matinee.

Roden got out to a fast start offensively off one of the better pitchers in the league in Spencer Schwellenbach. Blue Jays' Alan Roden: On base twice in MLB debut
Roden went 1-for-2 with a walk in Thursday's loss to the Orioles.
Hitting ninth and playing right field in his big-league debut, Roden led off the sixth inning with a single before working Keegan Akin for a free pass to lead off the eighth. It was an early glimpse of Roden's on-base skills, and if the Blue Jays struggle to generate offense early, it may not be long before the 25-year-old is moved up to the top of the order. Roden's role once Daulton Varsho (shoulder) comes off the IL remains uncertain, but the rookie made a strong first impression.

Blue Jays' Alan Roden: Starting in right field in opener
The Blue Jays selected Roden's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Roden will start in right field and bat ninth in Thursday's opener against the Orioles. The Blue Jays are going with an outfield of Anthony Santander, George Springer and Roden on Opening Day. Though Roden may be in line for regular playing time versus right-handed pitching to begin the season, he could be at risk of losing out on starts once Daulton Varsho (shoulder) is ready to return from the injured list.

Blue Jays' Alan Roden: Named to Opening Day roster
Roden was informed Sunday that he has made the Blue Jays' Opening Day roster, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Roden has impressed this spring with a pair of homers and twice as many walks (six) as strikeouts (three) in 19 Grapefruit League games. The Blue Jays have yet to officially add Roden to the 40-man roster, and his exact role with the big club is to be determined, but his on-base skills are particularly strong and could help him carve out semi-regular playing time in the Toronto outfield.
