Reds' Hunter Greene: Headed for second opinion
Greene is headed to Los Angeles on Monday for a second opinion on his back and groin injuries, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Greene initially injured his groin in a May 7 start against Atlanta but missed the minimum 15 days on the IL and made three starts before aggravating the groin issue while also coming down with a back issue June 3 versus Milwaukee. He's already been sent back to the 15-day injured list but appears to be looking at a lengthier recovery this time around. Wade Miley has been signed by Cincinnati and is expected to make his first start with the Reds on Monday against the Guardians.

Reds' Hunter Greene: Back to IL with strained groin
The Reds placed Greene on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right groin strain.
Greene was hurt during Tuesday's start against the Brewers. It's the same injury that caused him to miss much of May, although the Reds are still awaiting MRI results to see what the severity is this time around. Manager Terry Francona said Wednesday that Greene also dealt with a lower-back issue during Tuesday's outing which may or may not have been related to the groin injury, per Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News. Greene will be eligible for activation June 19, but the Reds might tread more carefully with him this time. Wade Miley has been signed to take Greene's roster spot and should also absorb his spot in the rotation.

Reds' Hunter Greene: Pulled due to groin injury
Manager Terry Francona said that Greene was pulled from his start during Tuesday's win over the Brewers due to a flare-up of his groin injury, Pat Brennan of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Greene managed to last five innings Tuesday, allowing two earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven batters. He spent time on the injured list in May due to a groin strain, so the decision to pull him after 85 pitches was made in order to prevent him from further aggravating the injury. The 25-year-old righty will receive an MRI on Wednesday to determine if any serious damage was done. Until then, his status for his next start is unknown.

Reds' Hunter Greene: Mixed results in third loss
Greene (4-3) was charged with the loss Wednesday against the Royals after allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out three.
After fanning a season-low two his last time out, Greene registered his second-lowest strikeout output of the year Wednesday and tied a season worst with seven hits allowed. Even so, the hard-throwing right-hander was still able to toss at least five innings while giving up two runs or fewer for the sixth time in 10 starts this year. Greene will bring an impressive 2.63 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 66:11 K:BB over 54.2 frames into his next scheduled outing versus the Brewers, who have struggled offensively with a .617 OPS through 26 games in May.

Reds' Hunter Greene: Lasts four frames in return
Greene didn't factor into the decision in Friday's loss to the Cubs, giving up two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two batters in four innings.
Making his first start since early May after landing on the injured list with a groin strain, Greene was pulled relatively early after hitting 83 pitches through four innings. He left with a 4-2 lead after allowing a two-run shot to Pete Crow-Armstrong, but the Reds' bullpen gave up 11 runs in the final three frames. Greene now owns a 2.54 ERA through 49.2 innings this year and will have a favorable matchup against the Royals during his next start.

Reds' Hunter Greene: Activated ahead of Friday's start
The Reds activated Greene (groin) from the 15-day injured list Friday.
Greene will make his return to the Cincinnati rotation with a start against the Cubs after missing the past two-plus weeks with a Grade 1 right groin strain. The right-hander is skipping a rehab assignment, so his workload Friday might be limited. Through 45.2 innings over eight starts this season, Greene sports a 2.36 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 61:8 K:BB.

Greene (groin) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Sunday, Charlie Goldsmith of MLB.com reports.
Greene was enthused following the outing, noting no issues with his strained right groin and displaying good velocity. The right-hander will throw another session this week, but the Reds haven't announced when Greene is projected to return from the 15-day injured list. He's eligible for activation Friday.

Reds' Hunter Greene: On tap to start Friday
Reds manager Terry Francona said that Greene (groin) is on track to return from the 15-day injured list to start Friday against the Cubs, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.
Francona indicated earlier Monday that Greene was trending toward a return this weekend, and now the skipper has offered the specific day for the right-hander to be activated. Greene will not make a rehab start, but he has completed multiple bullpen sessions and thus far has had no problems recovering from the Grade 1 right groin strain that sent him to the 15-day injured list in early May. He could be on a somewhat limited pitch count Friday.

Reds' Hunter Greene: Expected back this weekend
Reds manager Terry Francona said Monday in an appearance on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that he expects Greene (groin) to return fromt he 15-day injured list to make a start this weekend against the Cubs.
Greene threw a bullpen session Sunday and "came through that real well," per Francona. Assuming the right-hander bounces back from the mound work with no hiccups, he will skip a rehab assignment and go right back into the Reds rotation this weekend at Great American Ball Park. Greene is coming back from a Grade 1 right groin strain, which he suffered May 7. It's not clear what kind of workload restrictions, if any, he will have in his return to the bump.
