The Chicago right-hander took care of business against a Colorado lineup that entered the contest with a league-worst .220 team batting average. The only blemish on Taillon's performance was a solo homer yielded to Mickey Moniak in the fifth. Through 63 total innings, Taillon has pitched to a 3.86 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 51:12 K:BB. He is currently scheduled to make his next start against Cincinnati at home this weekend.

The veteran right-hander wasn't exactly dominant as he induced just four swinging strikes, but he delivered his second straight quality start to help secure his first victory since April 2. Taillon surrendered six earned runs during his season debut in Arizona, but he's posted a 2.80 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 30:8 K:BB in 35.1 innings across his past six outings.
Taillon did not factor in the decision during Sunday's extra-inning loss against Philadelphia. He allowed a run on five hits over seven innings while striking out two.
The lone blemish on Taillon's outing was an RBI single by Trea Turner in the third inning. It was the first time Taillon threw more than six innings this season while he registered his third quality start. Taillon pitched well enough to deserve his second win of the season but didn't receive enough run support to escape his third straight no-decision. The veteran righty allowed six runs over 4.1 innings in his first start of the year, but since then, he's allowed only eight runs across 22.1 innings while striking out 23. Taillon seems to be rounding into form, and he'll look to keep pitching well in his next scheduled start, which is penciled in for next Sunday against the Phillies, as the Cubs only play five games in the coming week.
Taillon pitched 5.1 innings against the Padres on Monday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out four batters in a no-decision.
Taillon served up a solo homer to Fernando Tatis in the third inning but carried a 3-1 lead into the sixth. He was pulled with one out in that frame after issuing a walk to Manny Machado, and the Cubs' bullpen subsequently allowed four straight batters to reach base as San Diego tied the score. Despite the disappointing ending, it was still a promising outing for Taillon, who logged his third straight start of three or fewer runs. His ERA on the season still stands at a middling 5.40, but that's largely due to a six-run, 4.1-inning disaster in his season debut against Arizona on March 28.
